WELTSCHMERZ
AT INTRINSIC STUDIO

Hug immerses us in a whirlwind of emotions with their retrospective "Weltschmerz" (world pain). Their latest works are not only an artistic expression but also a protest against the social injustices surrounding us. With masterful skill, Hug addresses themes linked to human suffering in all its facets: the devastation of war, the challenge of mental health, the climate crisis, and the ongoing feminist struggle.

The exhibition consists of four collections: "Social Anxiety," textile sculptures representing social anxiety and the pain of loss; "War Hits All," a portrayal of dissociation in distant conflicts through a wrecking ball formed with sniper gloves; "Armour of Sun," an imposing suspended dress offering refuge for emotional transformation amidst chaos; and "Holding Hands," small sculptures intertwining gloves in an emotional portrait of human relationships.

In addition to the exhibition, we will have the opportunity to delve into Hug's creative process in their Open Studio, bringing to life their latest work "Desgarro," a collage of flesh-colored dresses revealing female lament and challenging social standards.
